One of the greatest text-based novels Ive read! I was so immersed in the story it left me beggin for more! Cant wait for the other two installments to it!!
Why cant I rate higher ;( But seriously this is one of the greatest games I have played. My first reaction "Another $h!t medieval RPGs app... Oh look its this group of devs... Might be good." And Im very disappointed they dont have he next part yet. Its one of the greatest apps you will find, ever.
This game is great fun with meaningful characters, lots of choice, and an excellent story. This game is honestly the first interactive story I have played with enough depth and variety that makes going back and playing as a different character fun and builds on the experience. I have to say that this game shines brighter than others like it in all areas. This is especially true of the romances where you can choose not only who you romance, but also how to develop the relationship which for the first time made me feel that my character was actually me. I strongly recommend this game and eagerly await the sequel. LONG LIVE THE ONE TRUE HEIR! LONG LIVE THE KING!
So the whole skill system is pretty lame. Based on your narrative choices, you get a higher level in skills, this is all well and good--but instead of rolling dice with a modifier and then giving you a pass or fail, the game just decides what number your skill needs to be to succeed, and if youre below you fail and if youre above you win. So basically, you just put everything into sword skills and win all the combats. This game punishes strategy. The relationship stuff is okay, but if thats what you want you should be playing a dating sim. I suggest you play Sorcery instead.
This story makes me imagine the whole thing in my head as if it was an Academy Awarded Nominee movie of the year. The story is great and Both of these games are awesome. Please a son as possible make sequels even after the main character builds his former kingdom back together; stories of his kingdom and their struggles of running one.
I can say with reasonable certainty and overwhelming disappointment in myself that I have every decision you make and the effects of the decisions (+whatever charm) memorized to the point where I can and have created optimized versions of every one of the dozens of possible character combinations. My personal favorite is the spellsword. This game is really addicting, and, though the end results change barely or not at all, the paths feel so unique and refreshing that I can say with confidence, I have found my favorite HG/CoG game. This having played all of them.
The plot of this game is one of the best Ive come across in a CYOA game. It falls back on some fantasy clichés, but everything is well-written and engrossing nevertheless. The ending cliffhanger definitely means Ill be buting part two. The only qualm I have is that I failed left and right; I realize the very nature of choice-driven games means that some options will be locked, but I frequently found myself with insufficient gold or low skills that couldnt pass the checks. I feel it somewhat undermines the purpose of escapist fantasy to remind me of my many inadequacies. Despite my gripes, I am motivated to play again to get a better outcome, and I will certainly buy part two.
Just wasnt an enjoyable game. Stats system was terrible, pretty much requiring munchkin-style play. One is left with the suspicion that in lieu of writing more prose, the designer decided to make people play it multiple times because they only had a 49 in Willpower and needed a full 50. The story was intriguing, but the Characters just werent interesting. Give it a pass.
